What changed

New feature

300+ curated backgrounds

The background library expands from a handful of options to 300+ curated images, gradients, and textures. Backgrounds are organised into collections — Abstract, Gradients, Architecture, Nature, and more. Shuffle cycles through them randomly; the Remix button now picks backgrounds that complement the active effect and filters.

New feature

Crop & aspect ratio controls

A crop panel lets you select output dimensions before exporting. Choose from preset aspect ratios — 1:1 (square), 4:5 (portrait), 16:9 (landscape), 9:16 (Reels/Stories), 3:2, and 2:3 — or enter a custom size. The crop is applied non-destructively, so switching ratios never discards your original image.

New feature

PNG + 2K/4K image exports

Export at full resolution with no watermark. Standard export is at the image's native resolution (up to 2048px longest side); Pro users unlock 2K and 4K output. Files export as PNG with transparency preserved where the effect allows it. This makes Ditther output suitable for print and large-format use.

New feature

Video import and export

Upload a short video clip and apply any Ditther effect in real time. The pixel processing pipeline runs frame by frame, so the ASCII effect, halftone, dither, and all other effects animate naturally with the video's motion. Export the result as MP4. Video export is available to Pro users.

New feature

Pre-built creative presets

Six built-in presets — Terminal, Retro, Darkroom, Matrix Noir, Blush, and Static — apply a complete configuration in one click: effect type, filters, background, and blending mode. They're designed as starting points; adjust from there and save the result as your own.

New feature

Save your own presets

Every configuration you've built can be saved as a named preset and recalled in any future session. Presets capture effect type, all filter values, blending mode, opacity, scatter, and which background collection is active. Pro users get unlimited saved presets; free users get up to three.

Video tip

For the cleanest video export, keep clips under 15 seconds and use the Halftone or Dither effect — they render fastest frame-by-frame and produce the most consistent results across motion.
